Miyata Super Carbon MTB restoration part 2
Well I did a bit more work on the Miyata recently as some new parts arrived at work so now both wheels are laced up 3 x with new Mac spokes into the Suntour Expert hubs that have been fully restored and re packed with grease. The hubs are super smooth and look great laced into the original Ukai rims, which is another company like Suntour that does now not exist but made great products in their time. The tyres are Continental 26 x 1.9 Town & Country tyres which are a perfect all round tyre, great for commuting, touring and off road if needed. Most of the Suntour Expert group has been restored and re fitted and later on the bolts will be changed for Kimori titanium coated bolts instead. Shifting and braking will now be super smooth thanks to a Yokozuna Reaction jet lubed MTB cable kit and it's the 1st time I've installed one of these cable kits but I'm very impressed so if you are looking for smooth shifting and braking grab one of these Yokozuna cable kits as they are well worth the extra money. In the next few days I should have some shifter, brake plastic cable tubes and then I will install that on the open sections of cable as per the original set up. For the stem and bar combo we are using Nitto's lugged MTB stem with a Nitto MTB riser bar. For the front brake I'll install a Dia Compe cable hanger and for the rear wheel a NOS Suntour microdrive cluster is on it's way as the old cluster was badly worn. I'm really happy with the build so far and it should look fantastic once finished. As more parts arrive and have been fitted I'll post an update. Pictured above is the Miyata in it's current condition.
